Traveling With Incontinence

It's officially the busiest travel time of the year! The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is an exciting time for most people. However, having easy access to a bathroom while in transit is not something you can count on.

Traveling is daunting for the estimated 25 million American that suffer from some form of urinary incontinence. Knowing that you can experience urinary weakness at any age of life can make you reluctant to want to leave the safety of your own home. Try not to worry through, because with a bit of good planning and preparation you can go wherever you want for the holidays!

It's best to plan and prepare for the stages of travel:

1 - Before Leaving
2 - Transportation
3 - Arrival

Preparations:

Let's start with how you are traveling? Are you driving? Are you flying? Maybe you are doing a bit of both!

If you plan to drive purchase incontinence products such as diapers, pads and a waterproof auto seat cover. If you are flying, try to book a seat closest to the bathroom. You can also make yourself feel more comfortable by packing an incontinence throw to sit on while on the plane.

Don't forget to pack extra clothes and wipes to keep yourself fresh and clean in the event of an accident.

Time to Travel:

Now planned accordingly and you are ready to put your plan into action and start your holiday travel! First, locate the bathroom on the plane. Place your incontinence seat cover or throw down on your seat. Next, have that carry-on ready with your change of clothes. Limit that fluid intake and try to relax!

You've Arrived:

Follow these steps below:

1 - Locate the bathrooms nearest to you in the event you need to go quickly.
2 - Try to stick to your usual diet and don't branch out to far with foods you don't normally eat.
3 - Try not to drink too much caffeine or alcohol.
4 - Make sure to consume water as you normally would.
5 - Follow a bathroom schedule and always use the bathroom before going somewhere new.

Have a Happy and Safe 2017 Holiday Season!
